Where have you been?

It has been very quiet on the blog for awhile, it's been for a good reason.

So the first thing is I have completed my studies after 4 long years of juggling working full-time and going to classes, all of the hard work, sleep deprived insanity (caused by 24+ hour days) have paid off. You are now looking a photographer that can not only work all functions of her camera, I have a qualification to prove it!

My ongoing photojournalism work you can see on the link below:

and my Flickr https://www.flickr.com/photos/54898298@N02/

What's the plan for 2015? There are lots of exciting travel plans, milestones and business developments in the pipeline, rather than jinx myself I will post little announcements when they are set in stone.

To give you a few hints there will be a lot more travel this year and I am extending my skills from still images to video, this means I will be stepping out from behind the lens to bring you a more extensive overview of the events and places I visit.

bye for now

I managed to get through the crowds last night to see the annual Vivid Festival. This was my 3rd or 4th year attending and it was a great show. Only saw some of it, I am hoping I might get a chance to go again before it finishes.

One brick at a time...rebuilding Christchurch

My trip to New Zealand is nearly over and I am glad to have been able to spend a little extra time in my home town of Christchurch.

This is my third trip since the September and February 2011 earthquakes, my earlier visit to the city was filled with a landscape of crumbled buildings, fences, vacant lots and the constant flow of orange traffic cones guiding you through the maze of pot holes and road hazards.

This trip I found myself in the city early one evening surrounded by an eerie silence, the once bustling nightlife now has become a stark contrast to the times from my late teens and early twenties  now the only sound to be heard is a lone dog howling in the distance.

Summarising what I have seen during this trip, pot holes are still there but a little less, the traffic cones are definitely still there but have become a standard road ornament, new buildings are emerging from the once vacant oasis.

I don't usually photograph construction or building equipment but this what I saw.

Christchurch I will be back again soon, I look forward to seeing what all the metal framework and cranes will produce for my next visit. trendy clothing stores? new office blocks or a restaurant for a evening meal out?

Arthur's Pass, New Zealand

Arthur's Pass is a small village in the heart of New Zealand's Southern Alps, around 2 hours drive from Christchurch. Stunning alpine views and snow capped mountains.

Milford Sound

Day trip from Queenstown to Milford Sound, a long 13 hour day but I was glad I was travelling via bus than driving myself.
